Halloween Curly Paper Wreath

Do I have a treat for you today! When I first saw the Curly Paper Wreath, I wasn't too excited about it. It looked like a lot of work and honestly a picture doesn't do it justice. Finally after seeing many of them on other Blogs, I dove in and now as usual, I'm crazy about them. It didn't seem like a lot of work at all. I made this Halloween one, a Christmas one and I bought 4 more wreath forms yesterday! Here is what I came up with. I used last years Halloween Paper because my order for the current paper was due on Monday and I couldn't wait. See what you think.

Some wreath huh?

The skeleton face is from this years Witches' Brew Designer Series Paper. Once my Stampin' Up! order arrived, I cut out the Skell out and added it to the wreath.  I used Basic Rhinestones for the eyes, nose and mouth. (actually the sockets). Using the Big Shot I cut the largest Circle Framelit  using the Champagne Glimmer Paper and mounted it on a large Lollie I made using the Simply Scored Board and Basic Black card stock. To finish off the look, I added Basic Rhinestones and Champagne stars. This wreath is an 18 inch wreath I found in my crafting supplies. It took 12 sheets of Designer Series Paper plus a little more. For the hanger, I used Basic Black 3/4" Chevron Ribbon.

For a 12" wreath it takes only six sheets of double sided Designer Series Paper. Cut in 1/2" x 12" strips. Using a bone folder, curl each end like you would curling ribbon. I found that if I curled each side three times the curl stayed better. If the curl is too loose, just wrap it around your finger and then pull gently on each end until you have the look you want.

After cutting all the paper strips, I sat in my easy chair in the living room and watched television with my husband. Before I knew it I had all the paper curled.  Next you will need regular straight pins. Find the middle to your curled paper and push the pin through. Then, start pinning your paper curls until you have your wreath form completely covered.
The finial step is to wrap a ribbon around the top where you want to hang your wreath. I worked mine through the paper curls without any trouble and tied a knot and I was finished.
Next time I will have more Halloween ideas.
Until then, Happy Stampin!
